I get paid in hugs and kisses. Nothing beats spending the day with my favorite people. I love it when my kiddos come up and give me a hug or kiss randomly. Simply being there for my kids beats a 9 - 5 job anyday!
Christian values are at the core of our learning. No matter what the subject, we are free to truly make Jesus Christ the center of our teaching. No one contradicts Biblical facts. We can skip all of the humanistic teaching and go at everything from a completely Christian perspective. I always back up what we believe with Scripture. Simply telling children what to believe is not enough in today’s world, we have to teach them WHY.
Our family is closer than we would be if our children attended public school. When kids are in public school there are tons of activities and every family member goes their own way. Instead of family time in the evenings, there are hours of homework. Online Homeschooling draws our family closer together. We spend time learning, working, and just having fun together. The family as a whole is what we center our lives around, very different from the every man for himself mentality most modern families have adopted.
Birthdays are school holidays! We plan special field trips, or events as a family to celebrate birthdays. Little ones favor a day at the park , where as older kiddos appreciate some one on one time with Mom or Dad. We spend the day celebrating the birthday boy or girl, and looking for ways to bless them. Its always fun to see the gifts the children give each other. Some are home made, others are bought with money earned from jobs or extra chores.
I have the privilege of discipling my children in their walk with the Lord. There is no greater challenge or joy than to teach my children about the Lord Jesus Christ. I can pray with my kids at any time, and we spend time studying the Bible. We also look for opportunities to minister as a family. We have ministered at nursing homes, jails, and homeless shelters. We look for ways to bless others in our church family and community.
